log file

Hi, I use to Multilanguage Version 4.71.0076 and I didn't find log file. I use to vista.
Thanks.

Germany

Hi,

maybe I did this badly, but I do think that I am more or less following Microsoft guidelines.

I see the log file as "Application data". That means it is a file used by the application, which the user doesn't usually need to know about. Therefore it is stored in the user specific application data directory.

There are two serious disadvantages to this:

  1. It seems to be somewhere else on every version of Windows
    (and may be localized).
  2. It is a hidden directory.

On an English version of XP, it is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\MultiLang.Net

(In German it is "Dokumente und Einstellungen". I don't know whether it is localized into other languages.)

On Windows 7 (and I think on Vista) it is:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MultiLang.Net

In this case it is not localized, but there may be a localized link referring to the same directory.

The "Application Data" or "AppData" directory is a hidden directory. I always make hidden directories visible on any computer I use, but I guess some people don't. If you type the directory name in, I think the windows explorer will show it anyway.

In future, I might move it into the documents directory. I don't think log files are documents in any real sense, but it would probably be easier to find.smile
